Darnell Nurse Extended!

Well, well, well what do we have here....

Another bridge deal for Darnell and you know I am not surprised. But am I happy?

You know I came into writing this thinking that Darnell Nurse was not worth 5.5 million a year. I was going to rip his stats, his corsi, his bad play in his own end. You know I am not going to do that! In fact if you read my previous blog about how much he is worth. You will see that I do like Nurse and what he brings. Toughness, he can play on the PK and as a top 4 d man he can put up some points.

The thing with Nurse is that he is just not consistent night to night. One shift he will hit three people and get an assist. The next he will bake more turnovers than a baker on a major holiday and is the reason why the Oilers lose.

I like this deal for two reasons:

1. Its only two years and it will take him to the summer of 2022 where we will hopefully, maybe, who knows if we know what we have in him.

2. With guys like Gagner, Brodziak, Manning & Granlund coming off the books it gives the Oiler some flexibility in the offseason to hopefully get some help up front in the bottom 6 or help on McDavid's wing.

All in all I am happy Nurse is coming back because it seems like him and Bear have developed quite the relationship together. Dinner is on Nurse!!
