Mike Smith Placed on LTIR

I guess getting a 3rd string goalie should've been a priority after all!
It was announced today that Oilers Goalie Mike Smith has been deemed unfit to play and has been placed on the long term injury reserve. This means that Stuart Skinner, who was the back up last night, will be leaned on until at least next month. The reason being is that Mike Smith has to be on the LTIR for at least 10 games or 24 days. The team hasn't released why he is being placed on the LTIR but let the speculation begin?
Olivier Rodrigue has also been recalled to the taxi squad from the Austrian league pending Covid protocols. I am assuming that Ken holland will be looking to add a goalie as well. Whether it be a minor trade or a waiver pick up.
Goaltender depth is not the Oiler strong suit this season so losing a veteran back up is not what the doctor ordered. Mikko Koskinen played well vs Vancouver and we will be leaned on heavily in the next 10-12 games.
