Goin' Back 2 Back vs Ottawa Feb 9
The Oilers look to make it 2 straight tonight vs the Sens! Yesterday the Oilers ran into Matt Murray on a good day. Which doesn't happen a lot, being that he has a 3.88 GAA and a .883 sv%. Still the Oilers played a great game and won 3-1! Mike Smith had his first start of the season and looked....like Mike Smith? Some shaky moments but all in all good. 27 saves on 28 shots and played the puck well! Honestly very surprised at how well he did play after a huge layoff like that.
Tonight it will be Mikko Koskinen in goal and some other lineup notes as well:
Zack Kassian will be out "week to week" according to Dave Tippett.
Devin Shore has been called up the main roster.
Ethan Bear will not be available tonight as well.
Oilers (7-7)
RNH-McDavid-Puljujarvi
Kahun-Draisaitl-Yamamoto
Neal-Turris-Archibald
Ennis-Khaira-Chaisson/Shore
Nurse-Barrie
Lagesson-Larsson
Russell-Bouchard
Koskinen
Now I would like to see Shore in the lineup but I don't see it as Khaira has taken that 4th line center role for the time being. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are both on fire! DON'T PUT THEM OUT! Both are on 10 game point streaks and look to extend that tonight.
Sens (2-10-1)
Tkachuk - Norris - Dadonov
Paul - White - Batherson
Stützle - Stepan - C. Brown
Galchenyuk - Tierney - Watson
Chabot - Zaitsev
Reilly - Zub
Wolanin - Gudbranson
Hogberg
The only lineup change I did see is that Christian Wolanin will be in for Brannstrom. The young Swedish D-man, Brannstrom will miss some time due to injury. Also, Marcus Hogberg will be in net for the Sens. Rookie Tim Stutzle hasn;t scored in two games but has had some good chances. He does have 5 points in his last 5 games so look out for the young German
3 Oil Drops for Victory:
Attack Attack Attack! The Sens are 30th in the league in goals against. It isn't all on the goaltenders because of how awful the defense has been. Hogberg is a young goalie however and you need to attack that. Especially on the back end of a back to back. In 5 games this season he has a 4.54 GAA & a .844 sv % so yes attack that please.
Shoot The Puck. Yes its different than attack! Too many times last night the Oilers passed up scoring chances with some ill advised passing. Just shoot the puck and good things usually happen!
Bring Intensity. Zack Kassian, after 14 games fought somebody and showed he can be a difference maker! Then he didn't play a second more and is out tonight. COOL! Show some fight and grit like you did last night! Don't wait for somebody to change momentum go and do it yourself! A skilled team outworked a not skilled team and won the game! So do that again tonight and you will win!
Do Connor & Leon keep their scoring streaks alive?
