*cough* *cough* Hi. It's Back. Schedule and the Oilers FIRST GAME
Updated: Oct 31, 2022
It's another return for your boy. I get it, why would I read your stuff if you keep leaving. I get it. There are SO MANY of these out there and it's tough to consume, but hear me out.
With the craziness of the season starting, I thought it would be in my best interest to start this up again but I am keeping myself on a schedule:
Monday - Weekend wrap up, oilers news and notes, game previews. It's a chance to see what happened on the weekend and see where the oilers are at and what I thought. Plus preview the games for the week and what needs to be changed and what can stay the same.
Wednesday - Wednesday night hockey preview/how the Oilers fared in their games. Middle of the week check up. Checking up around the league.
Friday - Podcast Friday. Yes I am going to start posting audio versions of my thoughts and preview the games coming up for the Oilers. Plus betting/fantasy and other hockey related fun.
I want to keep to this schedule and that includes tonight's HOME OPENER!!!

The smell in the air is crisp, the Oilers are back and Oil Country couldn't have bigger expectations for this team. The Oilers made it to the western conference final last year and what a ride it was!

PREVIEW:
The Oil eventually got swept by the Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche. It was one of those magical seasons that the Oilers are hoping returns again this year but with a different outcome. The Oilers were a bit handcuffed in the off season due to cap restraints but they did end up grabbing a shiny new number 1 goalie in Jack Campbell (5 X $5M) ! The soup chants will hopefully be raining down at Rogers Place this season! Speaking of raining, it should be raining goals this season as well. Evander Kane (4 X $5.125) and Jesse Puljujarvi (1 X $3) return to the team and are set to be on the top line. Brett Kulak (4 X $2.75) gets a nice raise and stays with his home town team.
Here are the Whale lines:

The Canucks have been hit hard with injuries to start the year. Travis Dermott and Ilya Mikheyev are out. Thatcher Demko is expected to start.
The Oilers Lines for tonight currently look like this:

It is our first look at the lines this year! Now they always are subject to change. Devin Shore, who just got recalled, is in at 4th Line centre as Derek Ryan goes to the wing..
Jack Campbell starts! LETS GO!
KEYS TO WINNING
Getting to Demko early. Thatcher Demko could win the Vezina this year. He is that good and he will have to be if the Canucks have any chance this year. Getting pressure on him early and often will be key. Making sure he can't see and moving the puck quickly!
Special Teams. The Oilers Power Play was off the charts great last season and they look to keep that momentum going! The Oilers Power Play was 3rd in the league at 25.9 %. However the PK needed some work. At just 79 % good for 17th in the NHL. Vancouver's power play was top 10 last year and their PK was 3rd last. Take advantage when on the Power play!
First Game Jitters. Get those out of the way early. These games are very much like a playoff game. Both teams are optimistic, the fans will be electric. It is going to be a fun atmosphere! Throw a big hit early, get some chances and make sure to get those nerves out of the way early and win this game.
WHAT SAY YOU? Do the Oiler win this one? How will they finish this year? My predictions will be up on Twitter so go check those out!
