Bounce Back in game 2: VS Vancouver Jan 14
Last night was many things...Exciting! Frustrating! Most of all "WHAT THE F$&@ are we doing??" So all in all, the Oilers are back!
Yes last night was not what the Oilers and it's fans were looking for in a home opener, the good news is that they can bounce back tonight vs the same team!
The Lines:
RNH - McDavid - Kassian
Kahun - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Archibald - Turris - Puljujarvi
Ennis - Khaira - Chiasson
Shore
Nurse - Bear
Jones - Larsson
Koekkoek - Barrie
K. Russell
Koskinen/Smith
There was an optional skate this morning where the taxi squad, Kyle Turris, Kris Russell, Caleb Jones and Slater Koekkoek took part. No word on who is going to start this game, that is why they are side by side. I only put in Shore and Russell because if Tippett were to make a change, those would be the two options.
The Opponent:
Jake Virtanen - Elias Pettersson - Brock Boeser
Tanner Pearson - Bo Horvat - Nils Hoglander
Antoine Roussel - Adam Gaudette - Zack MacEwen
Tyler Motte - Jay Beagle - Brandon Sutter
Alexander Edler - Nate Schmidt
Quinn Hughes - Travis Hamonic
Olli Juolevi - Tyler Myers
Thatcher Demko
Braden Holtby
No real change other than the goaltender, however no word on who is starting as of 4pm today!
3 Oil Drops for Victory:
PLAY DEFENSE. Too many times last night where the defenceman made the wrong read or just completely forgot to play defense. So an urgency to play defense first then offence.
Powerplay has to be better. It went 0-4 with just 5 shots total on goal. The powerplay has to be faster and try and enter the zone with some urgency
Get that top line going. McDavid looked fast and engaged however the other two, RNH and Kassian, did not look great.
Do those things and the Oilers have a good chance to win tonight! Puck drop at 7PM at Rogers Place!!
