Time to Bounce Back!

2 min read

Easier said than done yes but it's time. Good news for the Oil for tonight. Connor is back and Yamo is back!

STATS

Oilers:

PP - 29.6% 1st in NHL

PK - 84.4% 2nd in NHL

Last 10 - 5-3-2

GF/G - 3.16 13th in NHL

GA/G - 3.01 15th in NHL

Jets:

PP - 20.5% 15th in NHL

PK - 77.5% 23rd in NHL

Last 10 - 6-3-1

GF/G - 2.99 17th in NHL

GA/G - 2.84 12th in NHL

The Jets Powerplay is middle of the pack but can still be dangerous with guys like Laine and Scheifele. The Oilers Powerplay on this home stand has gone 0-2. Only 2 powerplays in 2 games! Gotta draw some more and capitalize!

LINES

Edmonton

RNH - McDavid - Kassian

Ennis - Draisaitl - Yamamoto

Archibald - Sheahan - AA

Neal - Khaira - Chiasson

Nurse - Bear

Klefbom - Larsson

K. Russell - Jones

Smith

Tip hasn't made the lineup official yet but here is what I am thinking it is going to be. Move in Jones for Benning who took a couple of big hits last game vs Vegas. He also may change up the forward core to maybe, hopefully get some damn shots!

Winnipeg

Connor - Scheifele - Wheeler

Ehlers - Eakin - Laine

Copp - Lowry - Roslovic

Perreault - Shore - Appleton

Morrissey - DeMelo

Kulikov - Pionk

Beaulieu - Poolman

Hellebuyck

Lineup stays the same as the game vs Arizona for the Jets. A game in which they came back to win 4-2. Here is a crazy stat: The Jets are 12-6 this year vs the Pacific division. This is the last time they will play the Oilers, the Jets are 1-1 this year vs Edmonton. In the last 10 games the Jets are 6-3-1 and the big guns have made a difference. Mark Scheifele (6G, 7A), Nik Ehlers (5G, 7A) and Blake Wheeler (3G, 9A) have led the way. Also something of note, Head Coach Paul Maurice will coach his 1600th game tonight! Congrats to him!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

The Oilers NEED and I mean NEED to get shots this game. They have been out shot to death so far on this home stand. Being out shot 94-48 is not a nice stat. Getting to Connor Hellebuyck early is key! He has started 5 consectuive games and in those games he has a record of 4-1-0 with a 1.21 GAA and .960 save %.

PREDICTONS:

1. Oilers battle tough tonight with the captain back and win the game 5-3.

2. Captain Connor gets 2 points and makes me jump out of my cheap seat that I bought for tonight!

3. I only have one beer tonight at Rogers Place. Hey I gotta drive still and pay rent at the end of the month!

WHATS NEXT:

Fri Mar 13 vs NY Islanders

Sun Mar 15 @ Philadelphia

Mon Mar 16 @ Washington

Wed Mar 18 @ Ottawa

One more home game after this then a tough Eastern swing before coming back to Alberta for the rest of the regular season. Gotta get points this time of the year!
