Oil Extend Kassian

Look I know, I know, I am a little late but better late than never am I right?

As you can see, yes the Oilers Extended Mr. Kassian for 4 more years at 3.2 AAV. $12.2 million in total. Now before I give you my thoughts on the contract, I will give you what he has done for the Oilers up until now.
Kassian was traded to Edmonton 4 days before the year 2016 in exchange for Ben Scrivens, YOU REMEMBER HIM! In that time Kassian has been a force to reckoned with. He is quick and of course brings a physical presence.

As you can see he is having his best statistical season this year. Playing beside Connor McDavid will do that!
MY THOUGHTS:
I will preface my thoughts by saying I like Zack Kassian and he is obviously a good hockey player who brings a lot of things to the table. If the Oilers didn't sign him this year, some other team was going to give him this money. THAT BEING SAID. 4 years is a long time to lock somebody up who hasn't had a 30 point season in the NHL. Obviously having the past that Kassian has had will do that. However, until he proves he can live up to that contract, I am a bit skeptical. He needs to play with a player like McDavid or Draisaitl to put up those numbers. If he doesn't continue to produce like he is, he will be back on the 3rd line.
